SpermFilterⓇ 100%

  • Is composed of silica particles covalently coated with silane and resuspended in isotonic phosphate and Hepes buffered saline.
  • Water, CaCi2.2H2O, KCl, MgSO4.7H2O, NaCl, NaH2PO4.2H2O, glucose, NaHCO3, Na-pyruvate, HEPES, and silanised silica.

SpermFilterⓇ 40/80%

  • Water, CaCl2.2H2O, KCl, MgSO4.7H2O, NaCl, NaH2PO4.2H2O, glucose, NaHCO3, Na-pyruvate, HEPES, phenol red, gentamicin, human serum albumin and silanised silica.
  • The medium is sterilized by filtration and sterility is ensured by testing each batch. Sterility tests verify the absence of viable micro-organism (bacteria, yeast and fungi).
  • SpermFilterⓇ is manufactured under sterile conditions. Sterility tests for each batch verify the absence of viable microorganisms. The limit of endotoxines is < 0,25 EU/ml. The manufacturer Gynotec B.V., Netherlands, produces according to a quality managements system under ISO 13485 and Medical Device Directive 93/42/EEC.
  • The shelf life from SpermFilterⓇ 100% is two years from production date when stored refigerated (2°C – 8°C).
  • The shelf life from SpermFilterⓇ 80% and 45% is 18 months from production date when stored refigerated (2°C – 8°C).

  • Prior to usage, dilute SpermFilter® (100 %) with Hepes buffered isotonic medium (e.g. SpermWash®) at room temperature (e.g. 8 Vol SpermFilter® and 2 Vol SpermWash®).
  • Pipet 2 ml 40 % SpermFilter® into a centrifuge tube. Gently underlay 2 ml SpermFilter® gradient 80%.
  • Carefully layer the liquified semen on top of the gradient and centrifuge at 300 x g for 20 min (in case that after 20 min no pellet is visible, centrifuge for another 10 min).
    • Aspirate the supernatant and resuspend the pellet with fresh SpermWash®. Centrifuge for 10 more min. Repeat this step once to achieve a maximum effect of cleansing.
  • Finally aspirate the supernatant to have the pellet resuspended for the following procedures of reproductive medicine.
